5 Fun Company Perks You Wish You Had

I was traveling through the web the other day and came across Facebook’s company perks page.  Don’t ask me why I came across this and no I was not looking at their job opportunities board for a job.  Unless they want to hire me, I’m open for options :^D  After reading their list of perks I sat in awe of what they offer their employees.  It really seems like a great place work even though people think Facebook is from the devil.

Company Perks

Everybody can appreciate perks.  It’s something that gets them through the day at a job they probably hate.  It cheers them up, motivates and inspires to trudge a long in the battlefield called an office workplace.  Sure you have your typical perks;  401k, parking space and paid time off, but some companies take it to a different level.

Becoming unique in how you motivate your employees can really be a nice way to beat your competition when it comes to hiring.  Your work environment quickly becomes more attractive than others which gives you the leading edge when picking your next hire.  Not only that, you make it a place where they want to set up camp and stay awhile.  Nothing beats the employee that is happy where they work and enjoy coming in to make you money.

Laundry/Dry Cleaning Service

Akraya is a professional staffing firm that has many employees that work out of their homes.  What better way to motivate their employees by cleaning their house!  Where do I sign up?!

Summary

Does this shock you? Do things like this motivate you in the workplace?  I’d have to say this gives me a few ideas of my own when it comes to some creative perks for the employees.

I know this is an exceptional down time in the economy.  It makes it hard to think about spending money for your employees when sales and profit are in a downward spiral.  But right now would be the best time to show your appreciation to the employees that had to give up a lot for your company to survive.  Did you cut their wages? take vacation days away? cut hours?  Moral is sure to drop with those types of cuts.

So what do you do?  Find the little things that cost little money to help boost and maintain spirits.  Take the office out for drinks after a hard work day.  Buy lunch for the employees once every two weeks.  Company picnic/grill out can always be a great time.  My personal favorite is; Friday 2:00pm rolls around and everybody is looking at the clock waiting to go home.  Production is drops by 50%.  Instead of spending money on employees that are drained and ready to go home, why not just let them go home early.  1.) They will be excited and love you for it 2.) Saves you money on work that is getting half done from a drained employee.

Just remember, try to be a little creative.  It will show to the employees that you care enough about them that you took some time to think about them.
